Last night around 9:30 pm Macy started throwing up. And kept throwing up. Mom and Dad figured she found stagnant water in the yard again because there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary in the vomit. Because Macy is always getting into something or swallowing pieces of her toy, they weren’t super worried at first.
Macy was so scared and sad.
I even came over to check on her (within safe distance from barf – up high on dry ground).
Mom and I sat with her for hours.
Around 11:30 pm, Mom said to me that if Macy threw up again before midnight, she was going to the emergency vet. She didn’t throw up anymore before we went to bed (after throwing up 11 times!) and didn’t throw up again until 4:44 am.
Then we woke up at 9:00 am and we all went outside. When Macy wouldn’t come in, Mom had to go get her from the other side of the house. While Mom was out there, she stepped on something. She looked down and found out why Macy was so sick. She had pulled a baby sago palm (cycad) out of Dad’s greenhouse and ate it!
When they went inside, Macy threw up again.
Mom called the vet and told her she was coming.
Macy is currently undergoing emergency treatment. They started her with blood work to see if there’s been damage to her liver yet and if so, how much. They also gave her an injection to keep her throwing up and another injection to protect her liver.
This is not good.
We won’t know more until around 3:00 pm EST. We’ll update when we know more.
In the meantime, please pray for my sister.

Oh what?! Noooo! I don’t even know what that thing she ate is / was, but I’m so sorry she managed to get it…I know when Kasper was young he would find and eat all sorts that he found on walks, including cooked chicken bones. We had several bouts of repeated vomiting, although not eleven times, that’s really going some…sheesh I’m so sorry and I hope your little crazy girl is okay. You’ve all had such rotten luck recently and no pup deserves to be ill 😦 Sending you all love xxx

Oh noes!!! Ma knows abouts this kind of palm. She had two given to her, butts when she found out that they were poisonous to doggies, she gave them away. I am so very sorry abouts Macy! Sometimes us doggies don’t know that the good tasting stuffs is bad for us. Since I likes to ‘graze’ on Ma’s plants (that’s why they are all in ‘jail’! BOL), she tries to keep them away from me, butts I always seem to find a way to do some munching! Ma knows the challenge! I am sendin’ tons of POTP Macy’s way, and sending the margarita truck … sounds like you all could use a couple right abouts now…☺
Kisses and healin’ vibes,
Ruby ♥

Oh no …. Poor Macy! Mum knows all about this. Our Harri chewed on a cycad palm when he was young and started frothing at the mouth. Mum took him to the Vet immediately and he was still on a drip in hospital for two days and a very sick bloke. There were 5 cycad palms in our yard. Dad got rid of them all before Harri came home. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Hang in there Macy … Please!!
