As you can tell by the title of this post, I have a LOT to cover!

I am freaking out. My allergies are AWFUL and I have torn myself up everywhere.

img_20160528_232501.jpg

The picture does it no justice. Those “pink” areas are actually RED. I have scabs EVERYWHERE (literally…everywhere…parts that should never have scabs). Mom has been slathering hydrocortisone cream made for dogs all over me. I HATE that cream. It smells like…like…stinky cream. I just don’t like it one bit AND it barely helps at all. I’m pretty much immune to Benadryl and Zyrtec, and Mom refuses to ever give me an allergy shot again because of the possible adverse effects. Not to mention the last one I got didn’t help at all.

Moving on to better things, there was lots of swimming at my house this weekend. A really cute little girl came over and used our pool.

img_20160529_173616.jpg

“Hey! What are you doing in my pool, cute little girl? Are you okay? You’re splashing an awful lot! Do you need rescuing?”

I actually tried to jump in there with her! I was worried she was in trouble when she started splashing and I jumped as high as I could but my chunky little bottom wouldn’t get high enough off the ground to make it into the pool.

Looking back, I can’t believe I almost willingly went into water! *shudder*

Macy had her fill of swimming, too.

img_20160530_172118.jpg

She kept trying to get in the pool so Mom gave her a boost and went swimming with her.

The reason Macy was allowed to swim?

img_20160530_090244.jpg

She came in looking like that earlier in the day! Her and Molly re-dug their tunnel to China. She was soooooooo dirty and mom would have been furious if she hadn’t looked so funny.

The easiest way to bathe Macy is to let her swim. So she did! While Macy was swimming, I was doing dirt wiggles. You know what happened next?

I got hosed off because I was so dirty!

Macy and I had to sit on the deck to dry off which I was miffed about but then I found a grease spot under the barbecue. Dad forgot to put a drip can underneath and, MAN, that grease was DE-LICIOUS!

img_20160530_173254.jpg

“Haha, Macy! You’re too big to fit under hear. This grease is all MINE!”

Later in the evening, after we were all dry, we were allowed back out to do our business. Mom heard Macy and Molly going bonkers and went out to inspect. The girls had found a gopher tortoise burrow on the property (he must’ve moved in that day because he wasn’t there before) and Molly was digging him out! Now, although you’re not supposed to move gopher tortoises, Mom and Dad knew they had to or else he was as good as dead. So they took him to another burrow on the property that was mostly vacant.

img_20160530_190834.jpg

Later in the evening, Mom heard commotion again. Would you believe he went back to the other burrow! I mean, I know it’s in their nature but this little guy (5-6 inches or so) has a death wish!

Mom got the girls in and about 5 minutes later, Molly jumped up on the couch. She was drooling EVERYWHERE! Molly isn’t a drooler. She was holding her jaw open all weird-like and Mom and Dad quickly inspected thinking she broke another tooth. Nope! Molly had a stick wedged horizontally between her upper molars. Dad couldn’t get it out and Mom freaked. Then Mom tried and somehow wiggled it out.

img_20160531_193240.jpg

Poor Molly! She must’ve been in so much pain. When she first came inside, she went into her crate. Mom couldn’t believe that she waited so long to alert her and Dad that something was wrong.

The good news is, she’s fine and appears to be in no pain.

Whew! How’s that for an update?

  2. You really had an interesting day. Cute little girl, swimming, a tunnel to China, swimming and some ba things. But your day had an happy end! We have had two very hot days, dad likes and mom is red. I was allowed to go alone to the basement, there is cool.
I wish you and your whole family happy days, without skin problems.

  3. Crikey …. that was an update and a half, aye?? I’m sure sorry about all your itches. It’s a summer thing, aye?? I get ’em sometimes when we travel and we are away from our beach. Once I get back to the beach they disappear. Maybe you need to go to the beach. Macy looks as if she could do with a day at the beach too. Does she dig tunnels with her tongue??

    • Mom wants to take me to the beach so bad but the nearest dog beach is over an hour away. PLUS I hate water soooooo…yeah. Macy would probably LOVE the beach. Her tongue is gi-hugic, right?!

  4. Wow, Noodle, I thought sure you were going to say you got a bath after cleaning up under the grill. Whew, dodged THAT bullet. You and your sister sure do keep things lively around there. Saay, maybe rolling around in hamburger grease would help your itchies?? He, he, don’t tell your Mom I said that. My Mom said she is really glad your Mom isn’t doing the steroid shots. Her first schnauzer Freda got Cushings disease from that. Why don’t the dogtors tell you these things? I am feeling much better and I want you to feel better too, sweetums. ❤ ❤ ❤

    • I DID get a bath! Well, kinda. Mom hosed me off. Brrrrr! I don’t like that hose. If I rolled in hamburger grease I certainly would never stop licking myself. BOL! Your Mom is the reason why I’m not getting steroid shots ever again. Mom didn’t know about the link to Cushings until your Mom told her. Once she researched it, she said, “NO WAY! No more, little man.” I’m so happy we’re both feeling better. ❤ ❤ ❤

Noodle…. we don’t mean to seem like Know It alls… butt have you ever tired Coconut Oil fur your Itching…. It works TWO ways…. on the OUTSIDE… it can be rubbed in… and is really soothing… and you can have your mom put some in your foodables every day… Now… when we moved here, and Ernie started ITCHING…. the Coconut Oil that we get in OUR foodables every evening did NOT help HIM…. butt it did help fur mom to rub a bit of it on the itchiest places…
HIS itching was caused by the IRON in our Well Water…
BUTT since moving here… some of the neighborhood dogs were having Itch problems and mom told their moms about Coconut Oil…. and it has TOTALLY Worked when Eaten… fur every one of THEM…
OKAY…. We didn’t mean to BUTT IN… Sorry.

OMD that is a super POOL…. and OMD OMD you have a tortoise??? Other than the Itching.. and that DARNED STICK.. this was a GRRRREAT POST.

    • Don’t be sorry! This is great information. Mom has only ever tried fish oil and that didn’t help. She’s going to try coconut oil starting tonight. How much does your mom put in the food? I’m 20 lbs so I figure I’ll have to double whatever you guys get. She’s also going to put some on my armpits like deoderant. BOL! Thanks again! *ear licks*

OMGoodness, N. Your house is a regular barrel of monkeys! Yikes! I feel you with the allergies, buddy. I’m just a week off the cone and Mom is still nervous to leave me alone without it. Has your mom tried grain-free food? People have mentioned that to me, but my allergies are SO seasonal, like clockwork that mom doesn’t think that’s my problem. I have one more scab and then Mom will consider me healed. The other day I scratched it off and now it’s a scab again. Ugh. Allergies STINK! I hope you’re better soon.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

    • Hi Cupcake! It’s insane, right? I think I was on grain-free food once and it didn’t help. When I had allergy testing done, i was suuuuuuuper allergic to fleas. Basically, I have no fleas but if they even look at me, I itch. Mom threatened to put socks on me. I’m trying super hard not to scratch. Hope your scab heals soon!

Holy Moley……….what adventures at your house! Both me n Andy have had that stick thing happen to us. We know how much it hurts. Glad all are ok. Try some cornstarch on your skin. It’s a little messy, but it worked on one of mom’s pets when she grew up back in the dark ages. BOL!!!

Hi Noodle……. I’m so sorry about your itchies. The ocean is good for healing because of the salt in the water. Has your mom tried epsom salt or baking soda in your bath? I always used baking soda in your mom’s bath water. Who’s lil girl was in your pool? I love you. Hugs, pets and scratches behind your ears……..Grandma ❤️❤️❤️

Hahaha I can’t believe the tortoise came back, the girls must have been ecstatic XD Also I love the pic of Macy – she has eyes like Kasper when he was extremely excited, we called them his ‘psycho eyes’ 😛

Oh poor Molly. We’ve had the exact same thing happen to Kasper, only it was a length of bone that got caught right across the roof of his mouth. He was whining and acting weird and I couldn’t work out what was going on…I panicked too when I saw that bone across his mouth haha, but thankfully it came out pretty easily.

    • Hi, BFF! Hoses are NOT fun and the pool is too deep for me to feel the bottom. Molly bit that chunk of stick off a larger stick. When Dad said uh oh, Mom thought it was stuck in her throat which she’d seen on Emergency Vets. Scary.

  19. Holy yikes, Noodle. You guys sure know how to have adventures.’ Sorry your allergies are acting up. Has your mom tried calendula or chamomile cream?

That Macy girl’s tongue is nearly as big as her ears!

What a freak accident Molly had with the stick in her mouth. But I guess chewing on a stick is better than ‘chewing’ on you or Macy. ღ

    • She hadn’t tried either of those. She got something today that worked really well. I’ll be posting about it tomorrow. Macy had big ears, a big tongue, and is a big doofus! Yes, we’re always glad when Molly isn’t chewing anyone. BOL.
