Sorry to leave you guys hanging. I know everyone’s curious to know if Mom actually took Molly to the shelter or not.

She didn’t.

She couldn’t bring herself to take Molly back to that awful place that she literally promised her she’d never take her back to.

Instead, Mom passed out flyers at the flea market for people to hang up in their booths that have her picture and all of her info on it. Hopefully, someone will call and be the perfect fit.

In the meantime, Mom and Dad have been very careful about how we’re all interacting. Knock on wood, there have been no major problems since Friday. Well, except for her trying to eat Jamison this morning BUT that was HIS fault because he jumped on her head according to Dad.

We’ve all been getting all-natural calming bones every day and Mom is looking into obedience school for all of us. Oh, she has something to tell you guys. Hold on:

Hi, everyone! Noodle’s Mom here. I have a confession to make. One that makes me feel terrible but one that I need to admit to you and start working on.

I have zero control over my dogs. None of them listen. They don’t respect me.

My husband claims that they listen to him but all you have to do is watch Macy or Molly’s response when he tells them “come” while they’re outside.

In the past, obedience school/training was not an option due to our financial situation and conflict of time with scheduled classes. Luckily, some things have changed and I hope to enroll at least one, if not all three, of the dogs in training.

I want to work with Macy on jumping, pawing, coming to me when outside and told “come” (recall), staying out of the other dogs’ faces, and learning to leave something alone the first time I tell her to “leave it”.

With Noodle, he needs to work on recall (not as much as Macy), resource guarding, and looking to Greg and I for instruction. He’s unruly as can be because gets away with everything since he’s small and cute.

Molly obviously needs work with the aggression, resource guarding, recall, and jealousy which includes pawing.  Specific to the recall, I need to work on  breaking her attention when she’s on a “hunt” so I don’t have to get a leash and go get her.

I try not to dwell on how good we had it when it was Khia, Noodle, and Mya but it’s hard when they all gelled so well and now I have this chaotic trio that pushes me to limits multiple times throughout the day.

I have to get them to respect me. My sanity literally is depending on it. My mental health can’t take this much longer. Something has to give so it’s time to take control of the things that I can control.

So…yeah…that.

I knew Mom was stressed this weekend, and so was I, so we spent A LOT of time snuggling. The way we did before the girls got here.

Macy was busy watching TV or hogging the lone sun puddle.

Molly was laying in the recliner.

So, I guess we have work ahead of us. Does that mean treats? I like treats! “Will work for food!” BOL!

Oh, on a funny note, here’s a good blooper of Macy:

  1. I hope that there is a a human who can give Molly the pawfect home… I think I can copy your mommas confession… we sometimes have the same problem here… and we will work on that problem, we saw how awful it is to have a hellion on a leash while having to deal with a flu bug…. I think I’m fine with that… I only have to find an obedience school what is strong enough to handle my staff…..

Congrats on the decision. I hope you find a good school/trainer with positive methods and none of the choke collar/shock collar/alpha roll kind. Here: http://www.dogstardaily.com/ you’ll find good advice. I also follow a bunch of WP sites and fb groups about dogs and dog training. Some of them have lists of good, positive trainers (mostly US and Canada). If you’re interested, drop me a line in my contact form on my blog. Huggles to Noodle and friends.

  4. You poor thing! Great decision to do training with them. If you can’t take them all to a class then it might be worth trying it at home with the clicker training. I do it with my two and it’s working. It’s best if you’re consistently strict but it’s not always easy to do – I know that I find it really hard! Good luck with them all. Tess 🐾

    • Hi, Tess. I did clicker training with my mini dachshund about 15 years ago. It was great except for the fact that these days I KNOW I won’t always have a clicker handy. Dogs respond very well to that sound but if I’m being honest with myself, I have to admit that clicker training is NOT going to be reasonable for me this time around. Thank you for words of encouragement. It is truly appreciated! ~Samantha

We all know that humans *think* they put us in training but we really have them in training – work for those treats okay and don’t catch on too fast. Oops – did I say that out loud? Snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

  6. Oh, Macy – that blooper is so …YOU! I do hope Molly can find a perfect new home. Meanwhile obedience school helped me a lot. Hopefully it’ll make you all safer. And yes – there are treats!

    Some golden rules of training:
Find out what motivates them (usually food) – Set them up for success. This means be patient as you may need to take training in small pieces. They have to be rewarded to maintain interest, and you can only reward success – Make sure that what you want them to do, is more rewarding than what they want to do. 🙂

  10. I hope you find someone who can work with all of your pups on their own unique challenges. Aaron and I have often talked about taking our pups to obedience training, but it’s been difficult to find someone close to us. Plus, we’d both want to be there (we’d probably both NEED to be there), and Aaron works several nights a week.

If you do find someone, you’ll have to post some tips and tricks for the rest of us 😉

    • That’s my current problem, I work 45 minutes from home and am out of my neighborhood 7-7. It’s hard to find group classes during the week at a time that works for me. The weekend classes I’ve seen are Saturdays at 9:30…the one day of the week my husband isn’t home. I can’t take 3 dogs on my own to group. Someone NEEDS to come here. Of course I’ll post tips! 😉

they all use clicker / marker training (just replace the clicker with a “yes!” or whatever word works for you 😉 ) and have some good instruction type videos…I’ve used a lot of them for various issues or just education over the years.

Have fun training your pups, it can be done and I’ll bet you all have a blast 🙂

    Hi Noodle,
I’m glad you had cuddle time with Mom, I’m guessing that helped you both.
Obedience training can be fun, just ask our pups. They will tell you that they enjoy the treats the best but they also seem to like the training and learning something new. Of course we still have to give them reminders…now I’m wondering if it’s for those tasty treats!
    Cuddles and hugs!

  15. Hi Mrs. Noodle’s Mom. I know you wish everyone would behave as well as me. Oh, I just came off disciplinary lay-off and am back to work today! Anyhow, when Mom told Dad about this little problem over supper, he said Noodle is half schnauzer so should be very easy to train with treats. Mom said if you try to train at home, be sure to just train one at a time while the other 2 are out of sight. I think Macy loves playing, so that could be her reward. Don’t know about Molly.
Mom still has to use a pinch (not choke) collar on me when we go for leash walks so I don’t pull and hurt myself. I know when it is on me and walk very nicely so I don’t get pinched. She says it would be crueler to let me hurt my neck or throat. She hopes you don’t think she is mean. We all say, “Good luck!” Oh, and hi, Noodle sweetie! Did you know I am going to be mayor of Blogsville? I am working on my campaign and I expect to win. 🙂

    • Hi Sweet, Beautiful Lexi. I would be amazed if I could get Macy to behave long enough to come to work with me. Noodle is a very fast learner. I have started working with them individually and I saw a big difference even after just the first session. I know your mom would never do anything to hurt you so I’m sure it’s for your own good. Noodle needs to speak with you now.

YOU’RE RUNNING FOR MAYOR?!?! OMD OMD OMD I can’t wait to vote for you ❤

  16. don’t feel bad. Dakota is an obedience school drop out. I often think the more intelligent dogs are the ones who drop out of obedience school. Dakota knows all of the basic commands, but obeys when he chooses to. He can be stubborn. Oh and he still will NOT come to have his leash put on unless he has to go to the bathroom. So, I am not that great either……..don’t beat yourself! DakotasDen

    • The worst is when you know what you’re supposed to do but you don’t. Kind of like eating healthy. You know you shouldn’t cave in when you have a craving for chocolate and then chips and then cereal but you do it anyway and then you’re upset when you don’t lose weight. I’d rather be a dog LOL!

  17. So glad you didn’t take Molly back to the shelter, Noodle. Training will make a HUGE difference and what your mom learns at training sessions with Molly, she can implement with Molly and dare I say, with you too, Noodle! Everyone will win and I’m sure the treats will be flowing. Good luck! ღ

Recognizing the problem is more than half to fixing it so you are on the right track! Training is hard and you’ll have setbacks, but don’t beat yourself up. You are good parents that have loving hearts. Good luck! Oh yeah, be sure you and dad use the same command words. Sometimes dad says a word in a stern voice and we don’t know what he wants.

    • We learned about using the same words back in September. Mom and Dad were using different commands to mean the same thing for Macy and she was all like, “whaaaaa?!” BOL! Tone of voice will have to be worked on 😉 Thanks friends ❤

Hi Samantha: You are NOT a bad pup parent at all. You are doing all you can to blend your canine family & I admire you 150%. I wondered if you would not take Molly back to Shelter….it is not an easy thing to do. I like your idea about flyers @ flea market.
I also think Obedience School is a great idea if you can get logistics sorted out. I think Noodle is being naughty because there is enough chaos to keep you distracted. He is a good dog at heart! Macy is a high energy girl but I do not sense any serious behavioral issues. It is poor Molly…..she is a ‘canine’ Siddhartha Henry!
He has been good for past 2 days (I am uber sick with nasty Flu’). But last week he was H*LL on Paws & I had to put him in time out nightly AND rub Bach’s Remedy in his ears also. That is the only *perk* about being sick; he behaves, lol……
Remember I am here if you need to ‘chat’…or on FB or thru email.

    • I never thought of school as social hour…yappy hour! BOL! I’ll have to ask Ruby to bring some of her Margaritas. My mom used to take Jamison out in a harness. That was still when he was de-feralizing. Umm, even though that’s not really possible. If you’re a tornado, Macy is an earthquake inducing hurricane. She may not get mean but she is a terrorist. *ear licks* Noodle
      ————
Sherri-Ellen: Thank you saying that. The love, loyalty, and need in Molly’s eyes tug at my heart. She’s looking to me for guidance and I just need to learn how to do that for her.As far as Macy goes, her behavioral issues are much milder than Siddhartha’s but stressful: when Noodle is sound asleep, she gets in his face, stares at him and then lets out a shrill bark followed by her “talking” which leads to a fight. Then there’s the whole pawing thing. She grabs you with her paws, scratching you up everywhere. Let’s not forget the play biting that doesn’t feel very playful because of her size. *inhales and exhales slowly* Just thinking about it stresses me out lol. Anywho, I look forward to getting my pack sorted out. Lots of love & healing hugs, Samantha (soon-to-be dog whisperer)

        (OK over to you LadyMum….)

HI Samantha: I KNOW Molly is a GOOD dog. And I know you know also. I think the Obedience school will benefit all. I know you do not want to part with Molly & trust me I KNOW that feeling! Even tho’ Siddhartha Henry would be back with Mary-Ellen & with his Brother & other fur family the thought of him not with me makes me cry like a baby! So you surrendering Molly to unknown people/fate ….well you & I are 2 of a kind! Not going to happen…..
Macy is an overgrown Siddhartha Henry that barks! She sounds like she is hyperactive…..have you tried Bach’s Remedy on her? It is all natural & it works very well. Molly would benefit from it also.
It can be put in food or water or rubbed into the inside of their ears! Siddhartha Henry purrs as soon as he sees the bottle. He knows something calming is coming…..lol….
Sending you love }}. You go girl!!! Sherri-Ellen

Good morning, Sherri-Ellen: I know that Molly is a good dog. I think a lot of this has to do with anxiety. I have not tried Bach’s but just did some research on it. I think I will order it 🙂
