HI, EVERYONE!
Something MAJOR happened. I went on something waaaaaaay bigger than an adventure. I went on a JOURNEY!
It all started on Saturday. Mom grabbed the luggage out of the closet and started putting clothes and stuffs in it. I was getting really nervous thinking she and Dad were leaving me. BUT THEN! She grabbed the small, rolling suitcase and guess what she did? She put MY stuff in it! Lots of things ran through my head: Was I being kicked out? Where are my things going? Am I going with Mom and Dad somewhere?
Sunday morning came and Mom and Dad started loading the car. My kennel! My kennel was in the car!
MOM: “Get your harness on, Noodle. We’re going for a HUGE adventure!”
ME: “AAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
We had to go down to South FL where my Grandma (Mom’s mom) lives.
I was SO excited to get into the car:
Little did I know, Mom drugged me! I fought it, though. I didn’t really fall asleep until 3 hours into our 4 1/2 hour drive. Because of that, we had to stop at EVERY rest stop along the way. That’ll teach her to drug me!
When we finally got there, I was SO SO SO SO SO happy to see my grandma!
She’s the bestest!
I couldn’t stop running when we first arrived:
Mom and Dad took me for lots of walks while we were there. I read SO much pee-mail!
I saw a canal for the first time:
I was introduced to coconuts:
Dad almost fell in the water trying to get that for me! The pink “mass” you see on the side is actually a clump of snail eggs.
Hmmm, but what is a snail?
I found out later that evening:
That guy was on the sidewalk when I went outside and I nearly jumped out of my skin when I realized he was alive!
The next morning was Grandma’s procedure. She and Mom left the house at 6:30. Dad stayed with me until about 10 when he locked me in my kennel where I slept like a good boy for 4 hours. It was my first time ever being locked in my kennel.
When they got home, Mom took me for a real fun walk around the back of the building where there was pretty lake canal.
We also saw some Muscovy Ducks. A mama and her 3 babies:
Later that evening, Dad’s youngest daughter came over to see me. Ok, fine. She came to see everyone. We played like crazy:
The next morning, it was time to head back.
Would you believe I got drugged AGAIN?! Mom tricked me with American Cheese and she did it a couple hours before we left. This time, I slept right away.
We did make a couple pit stops. One was in the Everglades. There a LOT of smells there!
The last hour of the ride was a bit rough for me. I was very relieved when we got home. After running around the yard making sure no other dogs came and pooped in it while I was gone, I slept for hours.
I hope I get to go on more journeys…just not anytime soon.
What was your longest trip?
Oh my goodness, Noodle! What a JOURNEY!! Glad you had fun, and you look very handsome in your harness, too 🙂
Sammie’s longest trip was over 10 hours in a car with her daddy on their way to Colorado! I had to miss out on that journey – I was on my own trip to NYC.

Wow Noodle buddy! That was some adventure. I’ve never been on one that big. I have been drugged though. It was at the vets and my Dad says it took forever to wear off enough that I could stand up without shaking and get out of the car. He said something about not picking me up but I’ve no idea what that was all about. My longest adventure so far is a 30min car ride to some cool wilderness areas. I just love all the new smells in those places. What do snails smell like? Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! I loooooove coconut stuff. Did you get to eat coconut? Woof! Ray.

I was drugged at the vet once! It scared me a lot because I didn’t know why I couldn’t stand. That was the day they stole my boy bits. I can’t really describe snail smell but they are ooey gooey. No worries, though. I didn’t eat it! Nor did I eat the coconut. We did bring a fresh one home with us. Maybe I’ll get to try some of it!

We live in South Florida. You should have come to visit us.

I know. You have no idea how many times I mentioned it to Mom. Unfortunately, we were only there for like 36 hours total and Mom only had time to visit her great aunt that is 97 years old. I told her that next time I want to visit my friends. No ifs, ands, or butts.

Just to our grandma’s which is about an hour away….we don’t like to travel very good.

Hey! You got to see those crazy parking lot ducks! We recognized them right away! Our Florida associate Miss Charlee lives in Boca, and she sends us pictures of those ducks sometimes. Did you see any alligators? We were very happy to read about your adventure, and glad your Grandma is doing OK. Maybe one day I’ll get to visit Florida too. It’s a long, long drive from NY State, though.

We were really close to Boca! The only alligators I saw were 2 dead ones on the highway 😦 OMD! I can’t even imagine the drive to and from NY!!!

WOWEEE Noodle…what an adventure you had…..I have to say my longest trip has been to the kennel where I have to stay when my parents have a long vacation. That’s about five miles from my house…..so I’m HARDLY a world traveler!!!

Prior to this, my longest trip in the car was 30 mins. I much prefer those small trips and would be happy if I never went on a long drive again.

Hi Noodle dear. I think there should be some kind of law about indiscriminately drugging us. That’s dog abuse! (Mom just told me to hold my tongue, she does it with dogs coming to be groomed who are really, really nervous. oops)
Other than our trip to NYC (what fun at the disco with you!) my longest trip was 12 hours from southern TN to northern IL. We made it a two day trip and I got to stay in a hotel and sleep in my very own queen sized bed, with scrambled eggs for breakfast. As you know, I love to ride and look out the windows and take little naps as the mood strikes. I have also been to IN and PA. I get so excited when Mom is packing us up for a trip. I am a good traveler.
I used to eat coconut oil (it’s really a solid, not an oil, at room temperature) with my pills, but I got tired of it and am back to peanut butter. I bet fresh coconut is good, let us know!
And yes, you look dashing in your new harness – makes me miss you even more! I am really glad you mostly had a good time.
Butt scratches, Lexi.

You slept in a hotel? In your own bed? I don’t think I’d like having my own bed. I like to snuggle up tight to my Mom. We have coconut oil in our cupboard. I wonder what it tastes like. Hmmm. Maybe Mom will let me try some if I tell her you got to try it! Hey, let’s plan a new vacation! Where do you want to go?

yes, I prefer to have my own sleeping space. You wouldn’t know that since we have only done day trips. We need to go somewhere cooler. With this heat, I am not even getting my neighborhood walks anymore. Hey, let’s head on up to Canada to visit our friends there! Maybe we should let them know we are coming. Will I need a passport?

Ooh! Great idea! We can visit Ray, Siddhartha, Shoko & Kali, and who else? I think we do need passports. I’ll ask my Mom to help us with those, k?

You had a great adventure Noodle! I hope Grandma is doing ok? Our pups except for when we brought them home which was a 4 hour drive, have only driven about an hour away from home. Bonnie pup still needs to be convinced that riding in a car is fun. Bess and Belle like it ok, they like to look out the windows, in fact Belle has put herself in charge of letting the cars behind us know when they are too close!

Hi, Ms. Margret! Yes, my grandma is okay 🙂 I get really excited going into the car but once it starts to move I have to ask myself why I jumped in it so willingly.

Wowsa Noodle! That was some adventure you had!!! You knows, Ma gives me some of those drugs when I gots to get my nails trimmed, not enough to make me sleepy, butts enough so I don’t freak out when the vettie touches my paws! (yeah, I gots issues…☺) Anyhu, you gots to sniff a snails butt??!! PAWSOME!!! I haven’t found one of those yet….did it smell likes chicken? I’m thinkin’ it smelled like chicken…either that or a lizard….
I hopes your Gma is okays! I gots my paws crossed for her!
Oh, and nice zoomies!!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥

Good morning, Ruby! My Mom tried to drug me once so she could clip my nails, too. It didn’t work. Now she just deals with me losing my mind. I guess the snail did smell a little bit like a lizard! My grandma is doing very well, thank you! Maybe some time we can do zoomies together? *ear licks* Noodle

Well you looked quite relaxed even after that big trip, so the sedatives had no longtime after effects and you certainly had great adventures. Travelling is a lot of fun – I love travelling with my family, no sedatives for me, but I do have my own safety belt on the back seat of the car to make me feel secure. Our Cat hates travelling though *snickers*

Mom has tried traveling with me many ways (as far as restraints). Nothing makes me feel better. Maybe one day. Maybe you can trap the cat in the car???

Whaha@”trap the cat”. Our Cat Lady has a luxury travel tent in which mom puts her blanky, water bowl and litter box – she prefers to travel in complete darkness.

Noodle, that was a super adventure… have you seen one of that dragons what live in that everglades? I never was on a real journey, but my mom promised me my first howl-i-day in september… maybe you can help me to pack my suitcase?

We only saw 2 dead dragons on the road. When you pack, make sure you have treats, toys, and a super soft blanket. Tell your mom NOT to bring the towel for wiping your feet. Ugh!

What an adventure, Noodle! I am intrigued by the coconut, as I have never encountered one (or a snail, for that matter). My longest road trip was to Michigan. I spent a lot of the time in the car sleeping.

Both the coconut and snail were exciting surprises. Dad has planned the coconut. In about 3-6 months, we should see a seedling sprout. Michigan sounds far. I’ll pass!
