We did it! We went to the park today and it was AMAZING! For the first time, Khia got to come, too!

As usual, I had a mini heart attack in the car aka a super panic attack the whole way (15 mins). It was worth it though! We got to see lots of things and smell lots of smells.

Mom tried to do a “selfie” of the 4 of us BUT I’m too short and didn’t even make it into the frame 😦

So, we did our own “selfie” since we’re the short ones.

Another gopher tortoise!

It was a super fun adventure but I was VERY happy when I spotted the car (even if I don’t like riding in it). We were pooped!

See that?! I sat in the backseat with Khia like a big boy!

I really liked having Khia with us. It helped me feel safer because she’s my protector (it’s like having a bodyguard around). Mom and Dad don’t usually take her because they say her breed is discriminated against. She is sweet as pie but people just see her pit bull face and, well, yeah…you know what they think. Mom and Dad don’t want to put her life in jeopardy so she is mostly a farm dog but they still like to get her out of the house every once in awhile. She gets really sad when I get to go places and she has to stay home. I know how that feels because last night Mom took her for a car ride and I had to stay home. Not fair!

We came home and took a nap with Mom. It was wonderful. I dreamt about fishies, squirrels, and birds. Not the tortoises though. That would be a nightmare! Those things are creepy. Up until a year ago, Mom and Dad had a very successful turtle and tortoise farm. Yep! They bred and raised reptiles for the pet trade. We used to have big pens of tortoises – Red Foots, Sulcatas (aka African Spur Thigh tortoises – they were big enough to sit on and ride!), and Brown Mountain tortoises. I know what I’m dealing with when I see a gopher tortoise. Don’t let tortoises fool you, friends. They are fast and they eat meat if it’s available! I’m not sticking around as an entree.

I’ll have to tell you more about our reptiles another time. Right now I need to go because it’s dinner time and we definitely worked up an appetite!

I was a discarded, lost little stray without a house or a family...until my mom found me. Now, I am the happiest, most loved dog in the whole world!

Hi Schmoodle – I am so happy for you! At last you went to the park, and with your buddy Khia. I also meet a lot of off-leash dogs on my walks and it is the really little dogs that I have to watch because they get really obnoxious. I suppose they are just scared and don’t know how to handle it. I used to get really nervous and sometimes aggressive but my Mum and Dad used to give me treats as soon as I saw the other dog. Now when I see another dog I just look up at whoever has the leash and I get a treat! I like the idea that other dogs mean treats! Good night buddy. Ray.

Mom also loves pit bulls and she says Khia is beautiful. I think she has a nice smile. You look very happy and darn cute in the pics. Glad you enjoyed that.

What a fun trip. I used to be really afraid of the car, too. I vomited and everything! Yikes. We spent a lot of time sitting in the car, playing and eating treats and not going anywhere, for practice. When Mom got me a seatbelt and started putting me in the back seat, I did a lot better.

    Love and licks,

    • I love the car! If Mom opens the for, i run in! Once it starts moving i don’t like it. I was dropped off from a car by my old owners. They abandoned me. Now I’m always scared it’ll happen again 😦

Hi Cupcake (not only a cute name, but also makes me think of food!). I am a lot happier in the car when we don’t go round corners. I am strapped in but am allowed to move on the back seat so if I am not concentrating on what Dad is doing with the steering wheel, I can lose my balance on corners!
