Hi, friends. Mom’s going to write today’s blog again.
At 11 am I called the vet to see how Jamison was doing. They said he was still having trouble regulating his temperature. I asked how long he could last going up and down in temperature and the vet said not much longer. That it was already to the point where he thought we might be treating him just to keep him alive, not to get better. Especially since he hadn’t eaten since just prior to the attack. He didn’t know if we were doing more harm than good.
My biggest regrets with Mya and Khia are not taking either of them for 2nd opinions. I realize Jamison’s been going to the emergency hospital every evening but I have no faith/trust in them.
I decided to take Jamison to our regular vet (if you remember, he ended up at a different vet because our vet wasn’t in the day after Christmas). The other vet understood completely and was hopeful my vet would be able to do something he hadn’t been able to. He sincerely cared, as did his staff. The one tech even came back in the room to say goodbye and kiss Jamison. They all asked that I called with an update, either way.
I drove there thinking Jamison wood be put to sleep today.
Imagine my relief when the doctor reviewed the notes and said, “I think everything looks okay for what he’s been through. Some times doctors get so involved that they don’t see patterns.” What she was talking about is the fact that Jamison’s temperature is following a pattern. It goes down in the early evening and then comes back up.
Long story short, Jamison is home. He’s still nowhere close to being out of the woods but we’re hoping that he may start to get better and eat if he’s home.
He’s currently crated and resting. He’s not shown any interest in food as of yet but I’m hopeful.
The drains that were inserted are doing their job. Lots of fluid coming out.The more fluid that comes out, the more mobile he seems to be getting. Our doctor said the edema is likely causing more pain than the fracture itself.
Speaking of the fracture, she thinks there’s one somewhere near the sacrum. She’s not sure about there being 3. There is also a luxation of the top left portion of his pelvis.
That’s all I have right now. Please excuse any typos as I’m using my phone to type this and Swype can be quite ridiculous.
What a kind vet and staff to want to be updated when Jamison was taken back to his regular vet. We’re glad Jamison is home with familiar scents and voices so he might rest better. We hope that will help him regain some appetite and begin to heal. He has certainly had a hard week. And so have you.

It was shocking to see how much they cared. Although Jamison is stuck in a travel carrier, I’m sure the smell of home and us petting him throughout the day is helping. Thank you for keeping in touch ❤

You all are so lucky to have truly “caring” vets where you are……it was a good idea to take Jamison to your regular vet even though he was getting good care where he was YOUR vet knows him best. It sounds more hopeful but Jamison is still in serious condition. It would be FABULOUS if you could get him interested in food but I’m sure he’s so uncomfortable from all the trauma that he just doesn’t feel hungry. Poor boy – so much to go through and such SERIOUS injuries too. Being home might be a big help though – he’s where he’s the most comfortable with people who he knows and loves, and he’ll hear voices and sounds that are familiar…….it’s true what they say about “there’s no place like home”. We are praying and sending every bit of POTP we can. Thank you for the update – it’s been at the TOP of my mind!
Love, Pam

Jamison had never actually seen our regular vet as we just switched to them when we got Molly in 2015 but our trust was earned when they took care of her and then Macy and Noodle.
He’s definitely nowhere near out of the woods but he continues to show small signs of improvement and that’s all I could ask for. I know I wouldn’t want to eat either.
My dad spent a lot of time with him yesterday when he came over and I think that helped a lot. Jamison loves my dad.
Thank you, Pam. ❤

It certainly did. Although, new worries came along with him being home (“Am I doing this right?”, “Is he okay?”) One step at a time…

Having home relieves some worry but also brings with it a new set of worries. Just taking it one step at a time. Hoping that love will heal him faster than just medication alone.

We continue to pray for you all. Mom sent a check to you to help with the Vet bills. So if you see an envelope from Chicago it’s not stalkers :-). It’s just Mom (she’s friends with Amy S. who gave her your address).
Here’s hoping Jameson (named after Mom’s favorite Irish Whiskey) is on the mend.
