Hi friends!

All of us, including Snooter Tooter, made it through Hurricane Irma unscathed (physically – mentally is another story)!

Lucky for us, the storm deteriorated quite a bit and changed paths (more east) before it got to us. We didn’t even lose power which is a miracle.

All of us – animals and parents – are recovering from all of the stress. Some of us aren’t even eating yet. Not me…I’m always hungry.

The person who was supposed to house the chickens, pheasants, and bunnies bailed without ever saying a word to Mom or Dad so they had to be put in bunches of kennels and left inside the house. Do you know how disgusting a room full of chickens, pheasants, and bunnies smells? *gag* Mom thought she was going to have to burn that part of the house down.

Snooter was boarded up in his house that Dad built him and he didn’t have a hair out of place when we got home. He did seem to be in a bit of shock though. He’s much better today.

I have a small confession to make. Of all the dogs, I was the worst behaved. I was losing my little mind. The medicine Mom gave me – I think it was called Xanax – supposedly did the opposite of what it was meant to and I was HYPER! So I was freaking out and I couldn’t stay still. I was SUUUUUPER hungry and thirsty, too.

Here’s some video Mom took:

All of the other dogs were nice and quiet though. Molly and Rudee each got something called Trazodone to stay calm and, believe it or not, Macy stayed calm all on her own! Who knew she had it in her?

Rudee, Macy, and Molly behaving

Mom walked us all 87 million times during the hurricane. We actually did our business in the rain – even Molly! Mom was very surprised.

We are so thankful we had a house to come home to. We really expected to lose everything. Thank you for everyone who prayed for our safety!!!!

I can’t imagine what your home smelled like when you got back! But I know it was worth it to have everyone safe, and so very glad the hurricane missed Tampa. Noodle, the game you were playing in the second video, Lexi used to play all the time, especially in bed with our feet. We called it “rat under the covers.” She was just a lot noisier about it than you! I guess you have to bark to let the rat know you are going to kill it. 🙂 It was fun watching you play.

I’m a firm believer in prayer. Every one of our blog friends we prayed for had little to no damage. But I feel for you with regard to the smell 🙂 I may have already told you this but Frankincense essential oil is like instant mellow for Abby the Lab. I just put 3-4 drops (use less for small dog) on my hands and warm it between my palms and them gently rub on her head, ears, and chest. She’s SUPER mellow in about 30 minutes and she used to be frantic with thunderstorms. We call it “calm juice” and she will actually go to the drawer it’s kept in to let me know she senses weather even before I hear thunder. My Vet said it’s safely used like this.

  9. I’m so glad your house is still your house and I have to admit I would act the same way like you… even the small stormwe have here confuse me totally… that is because we a geniuses and eggs-tra sensitive, right?
I can imagine the smell, we had the same smell in a car after travelling 10 hours with 3 chicken and a cock (the idiot crowed suddenly and my poor father nearly landed in the road ditch with shock). I hope all traces of mad Irma will disappear in your kingdom andf your snooter-tooter can furget that scary adventure soon…

    • You’re right, Phenny. Our brains sense more than our peeps. I ate some of the chicken poop. It was delicious….until I threw up about 10 times. Not so tasty coming back up. OMD! I can just picture that rooster in the car. BOL! *ear licks*

  12. We were so upset when you found out the peeps who had volunteered to house everyone BAILED but you found shelter anyway and YAY – everyone made it alright even those who stayed behind! I know you’re all happy to be home. Thank heavens you’re all OK. Noodle I know that lots of animals react badly to some meds – not your fault little guy – your body just didn’t like being told to calm down so it went in the other direction! HAHAHA

    Hugs, Teddy
