Hellooooooo, friends!
I have left you all in the dark since Saturday regarding Macy. Don’t worry. No news was good news.
Things are going very well. As a matter of fact, Macy is back to eating her normal amount of food as of last night and is finally eating all of her joint supplements again.
The only time we notice a problem – I say we because I am watching over her like secret service watches the president – is when her cone is on. It’s supposed to be on all the time. Imagine this: you’re in terrible pain from a gi-hugic surgery and all you want to do is snuggle in bed to sleep it off. Now imagine you have a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE lampshade on your head and you can’t even bury your head in a pillow. Totally cruel, right? Mom noticed Macy was beginning to get really depressed and she wasn’t really sleeping. So, Mom being the neurotic mom she is was on a mission to get Macy pants so she didn’t have to wear the cone. Let me explain: pants would keep her from licking her incision and messing with the sutures.
Dad donated an old pair of pajama pants to the cause. Mom cut, sewed, nipped and tucked until this happened:
Macy was SO much happier! She fell right to sleep.
Yesterday, Mom went to the dollar store and bought Macy some toddler pajama pants (size 3T) that fit much better:
Unfortunately, Mom has yet to figure out how to keep the pants from sliding down when Macy continuously switches positions. She’s thinking suspenders will do the trick. BOL! I can’t deal with this. BOL! I’m going to pee myself. ROFL!
Ok…breathe, Noodle, breathe!
*ahem*
Mom and Dad have also been letting Macy sit on the couch with them. She has to wear her pants and a leash, and they pick her up to get her on/off the couch. When she’s laying with them, she doesn’t try to move around too much. She’s definitely not herself.
That’s about all the info I have for now. I’ll be back when there’s more to tell.
Oh, Macy said to tell all of you thank you for sending POTP and thinking of her.
Countdown to Macy’s anticipated full recovery: 55 days!
OMD!!!! With your Dad’s PJ pants on Macy, all I could think about was her watching ESPN with a beer in her hand. Now I keep getting mental pictures of a little girl going topless (Noodle, please try hard not to pee yourself when you get caught up here.) You pups have the best Mom and Dad ever!! Love, Mom #2

It’s a good thing she is a girl. If she was a boy, then he’d have his hand (paw) down his pants, laying on the couch with a beer watching TV. Mom says she will never understand that about boys. Love the initiative your Mom took and the generosity of your Dad. Macy looks like she could be a fashion model for doggie pj’s. Thanks for the update and making us BOL!!!!

Yes, and then she forgets sometimes and tries to run around like a lunatic which makes Mom freak out.

I kept Shelby in a huge pen at night. She had plenty of room in it. She wore two cones of shame. Back legs are harder to heal. They need them to jump up on anything. I still pick up Shelby eventhough her surgery was at the beginning of September. I don’t want to go through it all again.

Macy can’t be left alone in a large area because she likes to buck around in circles like a rodeo bull.

OMD Macy, you are rockin the pants!!!! I’m glad the peeps are letting you sit on the couch with them. I think it makes you heal faster……just be sure to milk it for all it’s worth.

that happens to me too when I sleep… the pj pants go in all directions, because the whole thing is too big LOL… can you try it with kids leggings or tights? or is that too much pressure around the surgery area? I’m glad that everything goes as good as pawsible… we hope the whole healing process goes smooth …

The toddler pjs are as close to leggings as Mom is willing to go. She’s scared to put anything super tight on because of the sutures. *ear licks*

What you talking about?! Snorts and oinks with piggy laughter. I don’t think they make pants for my short legs. I’ll pass. But Macy you do look great in yours – it brings out your long legs for sure which I am so envious of. XOXO – Bacon

So great news, noodle, thank you. Macy looks happy with her pants, she understands the reason and you understand the reason why mom and dad are sitting with her on the sofa. So everything is fine in your house.
Waiting for more good news,
Kosmo
