I feel like a terrible friend. I haven’t been honest with you all.

Part of the reason I have stopped blogging is because I couldn’t tell you all what was really going on without admitting something that Mom is really embarrassed and mad about.

We have another dog in our house. I’m not talking about Macy or Molly. I’m talking about a 4th dog that was uninvited.

On August 7th, Dad’s Mom moved out of her house and into a place where she couldn’t take her 90 lb dog. Since she would’ve been devastated if he went to the shelter, Dad brought him here. I will leave out all of the bad words that Mom said. Let’s just say, she did not /does not agree with Rudee being here.

Mom has had no luck finding him OR Molly a new home.

When Rudee lived with Dad’s parents, he was not a very nice dog. He nipped and was very protective of his toys, treats, everything. He was also very obese. Since being at our house, Rudee is a completely different dog. He hasn’t been reactive, has lost weight, and loves cuddling and giving kisses now.

Molly hates him and Rudee can’t be anywhere in her sight or she loses her mind and goes Cujo on him.

Macy loves him. All they do is make out. Literally. Tongues in each other’s mouths non-stop. Mom and Dad have to separate them every few hours because they won’t stop playing to rest.

I’m indifferent. As long as he doesn’t come near me, we’re good.

Aside from Mom being super angry, everything was going great until Saturday night. Macy and Rudee were laying in the bedroom with Mom. They were playing while Mom was reading and all of a sudden Macy went crazy and attacked Rudee. Mom tried to pull Macy off but just as she was, Rudee finally got tired of being attacked and grabbed onto Macy. Mom couldn’t pull them apart. Dad came in and couldn’t even get them apart until finally he jumped onto the bed and wrestled Macy off the bed and to the ground.

Then the blood started dripping…quarter-sized blood drops everywhere. Rudee ripped Macy’s chin open. Mom ran for a dish towel and held pressure on Macy’s chin for like 5 minutes and when she let go, it started bleeding again. Dad ran and got styptic powder and Mom held a towel with styptic powder on for another 5 minutes. It stopped bleeding for about 10 minutes and then the bleeding started again. Dad got more styptic powder and that time it held for good.

Macy has scratches all over but the only tear was her chin. Mom’s hoping it doesn’t get infected because of all of the styptic powder. She’s keeping an eye on it though.

Rudee is fine.

Mom thinks it all started over Macy’s Kong that was on the bed. Macy normally wants us to play with it, with her, but once in awhile she gets grumpy about it after teasing us with it.

Before all of this happened, Macy was going through another bout of colitis because she broke a piece of her old Kong off and swallowed it. Between the existing colitis and the stress of the fight, she’s been a little mopey. Mom thinks her pride is bruised.

Everything is such a mess.

Now you know our secret.

*sigh*

Oh Noodles we are so sorry …….we have sorta been in a similar situation and answers that are easy to find, don’t exist. Please never think anyone here would judge you, families are messy, and do not come with instructions like…”what to do when grandma goes to a home and cannot take her dog”……….if life had instructions at times it would be easier. All we can do is offer our hugs, and to let you know although we have no answers we do care. Stella rose and momma

  2. We wish we had some advice but we don’t. It seems that there is not going to be a good life with this present situation. We hope you find the answer soon.

  4. Due to where I am training now I can’t give too much advice, except the best way to get dogs to bond is to start walking them together, training basic stuff together and talking to a local positive dog trainer and desensitization and bonding. Victoria Stilwell has a website where you can find trainers. -Padfoot’s mom

Samantha, I cannot imagine the stress. I quickly found a home for a shih tzu using Pet Finder a couple of years ago. A couple drove about 60 miles and gave me $25 for him. They all bonded right here in my foyer and I knew he was going to a good home. I only asked for money to keep away everyone who will take a free dog. You might try that. And if you don’t get quick results, run it in my area too and I will help with transportation.

You might be able to find homes for Molly and Rudee through rescueme.org. I believe they allow you to list dogs for free and the founder is wonderful. He also has his own rescue so may have other ideas for you. I had problems with the website one day and he answered the phone himself! Wonderful person and it might be worth calling him.

Oh Noodle buddy, first I’m giving you a cuddle and your mom a hug. Next please know you have not been a terrible friend at all so no more worrying about that, ok?
When you have a big loving heart you want to do things to help others. Both your Mom and Dad have that kind of a heart and sometimes even though you want to help it’s just plain hard. Plus it takes awhile for everything to settle into the new normal.
It sounds like Rudee is getting healthier and developing better habits while living with you guys, all of which will either make him easier to live with.
I’m glad Macy wasn’t hurt worse, that must have been very scary for everyone. I hope her colitis clears up soon too.
    You’re all in my prayers.

    • Ms. Margret! (puppy hugs) Thinking with your heart isn’t always the best idea. When I got here it was but that was different. I’m just 20 lbs…okay, 21 lbs. I hardly take up any room and although I can be quite grumpy, I can’t really hurt anyone. The other dogs are BIIIIIG. They can crush a T-Rex. Love you, Ms. Margret! *ear licks*

I can’t imagine the chaos of 4 dogs. I have a hard enough time with River and Bear!

    • Mom agrees. She always said she couldn’t imagine 3. Even when it was Mya, Khia, and me, it didn’t really count because Mya weighed 10 lbs. So when it was 2 big dogs and me, Mom went bonkers. Then add the 4th dog and it’s pure insanity.

What a bummer, N. I am so sorry for all the trouble at your house. I do hope Macy’s chin heals quickly and completely with no complications and that her colitis calms down, too. Mom and I said some prayers that things will settle down at your house. Keeping track of so many doggies has to be tough for your parents. Stay safe, little buddy.

  15. Oh Noodle……you needn’t have kept your secret – we all understand and we think your Mom and Dad are special to want to help with Rudee……the situation sounds almost dangerous though because while this was bad enough with Macy being so badly hurt, it could have been WAY worse. The sooner a new home for Rudee (and I know you’ve been looking for one for Macy forever!) the better. Life is full of so much drama and trauma without things like this happening so when you are able to get things back to “even” all of you will be so much happier. AND – that’s what we all want for you! Stay safe little guy…………

    Love, Sammy

  16. Noodle your parents are such wonderful people, who try everything to make this cold world to a good place. I’m so sorry that such a horrible thing happened to your family, that is just not fair. Why oh why things and decisions we made with our heart can end so terrible…. I hope so much that there is a way and a solution for Molly and Rudee…. hugs to you all and maybe a new and good home for Molly or Rudee is in sight soon.

Ah, poor Noodle, so much mayhem. But your mum and dad have a good heart, it’s just… eventually the house is full and what do they do then?
Maybe they should open an animal pension? 😀
I had secretly hoped that things with Molly were better after the training…
