Car Rides, Fights, and Hips

Having just finished 7 weeks of Obedience School, I have made a total of 14 car trips in those 7 weeks (2 each Saturday), plus a bonus 2 rides last Sunday. Mom and Dad say that I’m getting better but there’s still a lot of work ahead.

Mom, please don’t put up the videos.

Mom: Noodle, I told you I was going to if you didn’t settle down. 

*groan*

Okay, Mom took video last weekend of me in the car. Remember, this is me doing better!

On the way home, I slept in the grandbaby’s car seat:

Moving right along, I’ll now put Macy and Molly on blast. Those girls have been BAD! Really bad!

Last Saturday, they got into a huge fight. Macy is tired of Molly’s bullying and she tore Molly up. Each of them was bleeding in the end, Molly worse though as Macy has all of her teeth. Nothing that required stitches. Just a bunch of punctures that Mom shaved the fur around, flushed out with chlorhexadine, and packed with triple antibiotic.

On Tuesday, it happened again. At first, Macy turned to get away from Molly but when Molly went back for seconds, Macy lost her mind and turned psycho. Again, more blood, including Dad’s this time as he tried to break them up. Still, no stitches for anyone.

Since that fight, Macy and Molly have been separated. Each takes turns going from the bedroom to the living room/rest of the house.

Now, not only is it a pain for Mom and Dad because they have to keep the girls separated but it’s a pain for me because Macy is bursting with energy. She doesn’t have Molly to play with and you KNOW I refuse to play with her. So, we’ve been having to listen to her howl….and howl….and howl. It’s truly ridiculous.

And what’s better than a dog full of energy? A dog that’s supposed to be on restricted activity!

Yesterday Macy went to the vet for her annual check up, vaccines, and to have her “wonky” legs looked at. Here’s what her gait (Cool word, huh? Mom taught me that word!) looks like:

It’s a bit hard to see in this video but Macy is very bow-legged in the rear, favors her left leg, often stands on her tip toes on her right leg, and sometimes drags her feet.

The vet doesn’t believe it’s her hips but rather a ligament in her right knee. He said there shouldn’t be any “play” in that ligament and there is. Rather than jump into surgery or other tests which he doesn’t think are necessary right now, Macy is supposed to be resting (HA!) and taking anti-inflammatories for the next 10 days plus a joint supplement.

When Mom voiced her concerns over the “restricted activity” he said that she should try natural sedatives as Macy can eventually rupture the ligament if it doesn’t have a chance to heal. Then, surgery would be necessary and the surgery would fail entirely if she wasn’t quiet and resting afterward.

Yeah….keeping Macy calm and quiet. That’s like telling a fish it can’t go into water.
