There is a grump-a-potamus in our house.

No, I am not the grump-a-potamus. It’s Molly!

Ever since Mom and Molly got home on Saturday from the adoption event, Molly is incredibly grumpy. She’s growling at everything. She even bit Macy and me when the neighbor’s dog came up to the fence and got her all riled up.

Mom is positive Molly knows what is going on and she’s acting out out of fear and sadness. Heck, even Mom was crying and mad on Saturday. She said it was so hard to sit there watching people walk by Molly’s cage with interest but then seeing that she needs to be an only dog and walking away. They would say things like, “Oh, she looks so sad,” “Look at that sweet face,” “She looks like she’s had a hard life,” etc. Each one killed Mom to hear.

It would have been different if Molly came to us as a foster situation but she didn’t. This was supposed to be her forever home.

We know it’s not our fault and we’re not looking for reassurance. We’re just venting.

Anywho, we’re doing the best we can right now. We’re trying not to keep Molly caged but at the first sign of aggression, she goes in her crate. Mom always offers to let her go in the bedroom but 90% of the time she chooses her crate.

Our friends at Furever Friendz rescue have offered to put Molly up as the Dog of the Month on their site and they will also be adding her as one of the adoptables on their Pet Tango profile.

We’re gonna get through it. One step at a time.

There might be a couple growlies in the meantime, though.

  1. I bet Molly can read your Mom’s emotions. Plus the whole thing of being in a cage or confined area with people looking at her, just like she experienced at the shelter. She knows something unhappy is going on. She doesn’t understand yet that it will all work out to the best for her. Stay safe, Noodle Noddle sweetie bumpkins. I need you in one piece to go dancing with me! ❤

  6. Sounds like your parents are being alert and vigilant in keeping you safe from Molly’s growliness. Meanwhile, you all just do what you’re doing – put one foot in front of the other till the hard stuff is over. Hang in there.

poor Molly a pawsome person will come. Momwithoutpaws had adopted a senior pet last year Bonnie was in a shelter for 3 years before Momwithoutpaws took her home. She was sick and blind. But we had fun for six months before she went over the rainbow bridge. There is a pawson for every pawbabie

Hi Noodle….I know how difficult this is for all of you but your safety is most important. We don’t know what makes Molly so grumpy. Is it her teeth, the way she was raised or something else? You and your parents are very strong people and will get through this. I love you all very much…..Grandma ❤ ❤
