OMD EVERYONE! Your prayers and POTP worked!!!!

Macy was doing well enough that instead of having to transfer to the emergency clinic for the night, they let her come home (with careful observation) tonight. Her liver does show some elevated levels but they think it was caught in time.

She has to stay on Denamarin (the liver protector) for 1 month and she has to eat Purina Rx OM food. The food is high in fiber and the thinking is, like in humans who have colorectal cancer, pack the GI tract with fiber so that any toxins in the GI tract get pulled out instead of just sitting in there.

The next 72 hours are the most important. Mom, Dad, Molly, and me have to keep a close eye on her.

Macy will need to have blood work done in a week to two weeks to check things out with her liver.

I’m not gonna lie, I was scared and I was SO SO SO happy to see her when she came in. I was sniffing her and biting her ankles and just relieved.

Thank you to the best group of friends a little guy like me could ask for!

More POTP to you! I (Duffy) am on Denamarin and have been for years. Scotties have a history of bad livers and my numbers are always up. But Macy is not a Scottie, so we are praying she pulls through. You are a great sister and your family is the best. Sending hugs your way.

  15. I’m SO happy to hear this!! I can’t believe I missed the last post…I’m so sorry this happened! I’m sure you were all so worried. So I am just super glad to hear that she is home.

Her transaminase levels (liver numbers) actually look pretty great, so with a little Denamarin she will be fine! The bigger number…the amylase…is from the pancreas and is likely just because she is dehydrated from vomiting so much. I can also tell she is dehydrated by her other lab numbers. (btw one of Puppydoc’s favorite pastimes is to analyze blood test numbers, so I’m glad you snapped a picture of it!)

Anyway, with some TLC….she’ll be back to normal happy Macy in no time. 🙂

    Hugs and licks! ❤ ❤

    • It was so scary. Especially after losing Mya and Khia less than a year ago. Hey! Thanks for looking at her numbers 🙂 We posted them for inquisitive minds. Mom LOVES looking at blood work too! When she goes for her follow-up, we’ll be sure to post pics of the lab results again.

    • This is very true. Mom always tells Dad that she doesn’t know how she would’ve gotten through Mya, Khia, and now this without our wonderful friends being there for her. I love you, Grandma! *ear licks*

  27. Well that was really scary! Poisonous plants are a big problem for us – guess your Dad will have to keep that greenhouse locked or something……hopefully she has learned that even if those plants were tasty, they wound up making her feel EVER so sick! So happy she’s OK Noodle……she was one lucky pup!

    Hugs, Sammy

    • No worries, Sammy. Dad threw out all of the poisonous plants. He said it isn’t worth it to have them. Unfortunately, I don’t think Macy can put 2 and 2 together. I know people think I’m just being an annoyed brother but she really is dumb. *sigh* I’ll cross my paws that she gets smarter, though. *ear licks*
