This morning, as I was leaving for work, I saw this sad, pitiful face watching me get in my car:
I felt so guilty leaving Molly today, knowing she was going to the vet for her procedure.
I left her in Greg’s hands with the strict instructions that he must relay everything to me word-for-word. What can I say? I’m a mom. I worry. I dote. These are my babies.
Off I went and an hour later, off they went.
She got home at 4:30 and I got home at 6:30.
She did good under anesthesia. The vet only had to pull 3 teeth (extractions indicated by ‘x’):
The canine tooth on the upper left that is between the two teeth that were extracted will likely have to come out by next year. It is in the process of dying but he didn’t pull it today as having opposing canine extractions would’ve increased Molly’s healing time by months. He said that the upper canines cause a lot of bleeding due to the fact that they are rooted near the sinus cavity.
He did a super deep cleaning on the cavities in the molars but did not extract them as they did not infiltrate the pulp and therefore are not causing her any pain.
When Molly woke up from the anesthesia, she threw up but they said it’s not uncommon for dogs to react that way. She hasn’t thrown up since and actually ate a can of wet food when she got home (1/2 right away and the other 1/2 a little bit later). Greg gave her another can for dinner.
When I got home, Greg told me that Macy was so concerned about Molly. She was trying to lick her mouth and was even licking her bandage from the cathether.
I took her into the bedroom to do the necessary motherly things (i.e., tell her how good she was, give her kisses/pets, and checked her from head to toe to make sure she was okay).
My sweet girl. She did so good.
Noodle and Macy were having a conniption the entire time we were in the room:
Noodle even tried “digging” his way in:
The cost of today’s procedure was $412.64.
Thank you to EVERYONE who helped us raise the money we needed to get this done. With Molly’s medical care tended to, we can now officially adopt her. We plan on doing this December 18th when we take her for her monthly preventatives. She’s getting a permanent home for Christmas!
That sweet face. Oh my goodness 🙂 She is one lucky puppy to have a loving home with you!!

Awww, thank you but we are the lucky ones. She’s already helped in healing us from our 2 losses earlier this year. ~Samantha

When people say that dogs have no feelings, they are sadly mistaken. Every time that I go out with just one, the others check them out from stem to stern.. Feel better Molly.

She’s so lucky to have reacted so well to the cleaning! With Miss Deita’s back, having to hold her neck at such an odd angle for the anethesia during the cleaning for so long, she would spasm and twitch for hours after surgery (Didn’t curb her appetite though). Hope Molly makes a full recovery and her little pack continues to smother her with their affection 🙂

Oh, that sounds awful! The only thing we noticed was some coughing which I assume is from the tube being down her throat. Thanks again for your help ❤ ~ Samantha

I’m so glad that Molly’s procedure today went well. I know it was hard to not be there with her but you and Greg are a good team, He did well. I can tell by the pictures in today’s post and past posts how very much you all (pups and people) care for each other. I am beyond happy for you all and can’t keep the smile off of my face.
Hugs and cuddles.

It’s definitely going to take hard work and patience. The 3 of them go from being best friends to enemies in 1/2 a second. I’m sure it will all be fine though. Thanks, Colin! Samantha

Yup …. hard work and patience would seem to sum it up, but you will get the rewards later. Ray “turned a corner” in his approach to life after about 2 years of work and patience. 🙂

I’m really hoping that pain was a large factor in Molly’s aggressive behavior. I know how us humans are when we have a toothache.

What a relieve that it went so well. I was worried that she would need many teeth extracted so glad to hear it was only three. She will be feeling better in no time.

Same here! I am a tad bit concerned as both of the other vets indicated more teeth needed to be pulled but this vet was the only one who actually took x-rays. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that he didn’t miss anything.

OMD, that is just the bestest news EVERS!!!! Molly, you look FABulous, and you would never knows you had all that dental work done! (and, might I say, you look a helluva lot better than my Ma does when she comes home from the dentist!!! seriously!) Oh, that video was soooo adorables! I thinks Noodle just doesn’t want to be left alone with Macy any longer than he has to! BOL!!!!! HEHEHEHEHE (just kiddin’ Macy…you knows he loves you! ☺)

Isn’t it great news, Ruby? Molly told me to tell you thank you very much. She giggled when I read her the part about your mom. Yes, my little Noodle boy doesn’t enjoy being left with Macy. Lucky for Macy, she is so aloof that she doesn’t realize it. Lots of love, Samantha

We cuddled all evening. Noodle and Macy were NOT happy about it at all! They were both very jealous and Macy hated being separated from Molly. I wish we could give more of them homes for Christmas! Lots of love to you all! Samantha

I finally got a chance to drop by, and I just wanted to say Choppy and I are so happy to hear all of this wonderful news – I got all teary by the end. Every dog deserves a home, and Molly is so lucky to be going to yours official! Happy Early (Official) Gotcha Day!
(Also? I am extremely impressed you could let someone else take Molly to the vet. I don’t think I could handle it with Choppy. I would be a wreck.)

Thank you so so much! I’m so happy we’re going to be able to keep her. Please note I had NO option but to let my husband take her. I am completely out of paid time off at work and I literally could not take her. Otherwise, hell would have to freeze over for me to let him go alone 😉

I figured as much – I would probably have demanded Facetime or something similar the whole time if I had to leave Choppy for something like this with my husband!
