Happy Saturday, everyone!
I FINALLY have good news to report.
Molly and I went to meet Dr. Hamilton this morning and he is AMAZING! He took his time, was kind, and explained everything using photographs, charts, and models.
A week from this coming Monday, Molly will go in and they will start by doing x-rays. Depending on how her teeth look underneath the gum line will determine how many teeth come out. He explained that oftentimes teeth can look good to the eye but there may be problems under the gum and, just the same, teeth that look bad may actually be fine.
He also explained that if the mass which the other vet believed to be an epulis was in fact cancerous, the x-ray will show evidence of such.
Once they determine which teeth need to be removed, they’ll go ahead with the procedure.
I feel so much more confident in this vet. In fact, I feel more confident in him than any vet I have met in the last 10 years.
He stuck by the priced quoted over the phone – $550. This is the estimate for 5 major extractions (i.e., deeply rooted molars and canines). The price may go up or down slightly depending on how many major extractions there are and how many incisors need to be removed.
He also gave Molly some probiotics because her stool fluctuates between normal and extremely soft. Hopefully that will finally stop!
Thank you to everyone who helped us rally last night! I woke up astonished to see how many people came forward to help Molly and us. As I wrote on Facebook this morning: “Every once in awhile God graces you with the presence of a walking angel. I’m happy to know a few.”

Go Molly! Now we both have great vets. It make so much difference. I don’t even shake like a chihuahua anymore when I go to this doc, as opposed to my previous vet. Plus, she has helped me so very much at such reasonable rates (or so say Mom, who is the keeper of the credit card).

I feel like so much weight has been lifted off my shoulders/chest. I’m still a tiny bit leery but that’s because 10 years of questionable veterinary care will do that to a person.
