Many of you have asked how Franklin is doing. Thanks to everyone’s POTP and well wishes, she is doing MUCH better.

She’s still learning how to use her walker. Just like a human baby does at first, she can only go backwards right now. Mom tried to get video of her walking but Franklin just wasn’t cooperating.

She’s starting to rely more on her legs than on the mesh support. When Mom lifts her out of it, her feet go crazy.

During her evening baths, she’s starting to swim and really clean herself. Oh! She was also finally able to propel herself above the water and flap her wings too! She hadn’t done that in almost 3 weeks.

Her appetite is back to normal which means she’s finally getting all of her nutrients from her food again instead of supplements.

Finally, she’s getting to be obnoxious again. A sure sign she’s on the mend.

Thank you, all, again! You’re the best group of friends a little pup like me could ask for!

  9. Wow….look at that walker! Did the vet do this or your mom and dad? This is very cool and I believe Franklin will walk again. Is there a treat for ducks that might entice him. I’m very happy that he is trying to walk a bit and eating some.

    • Hi, Shoko! My Mom and Dad made it. Pretty cool, huh? Franklin likes grape tomatoes and peas but, so far, she’s not strong enough to pull herself forward to grab them from Mom. Have no fear! She’ll get the hang of it! *ear licks* Noodle

  10. YAY!!!!!!! Franklin is getting better and that walker your Dad made is amazing – it let her get strong again on her own terms and without working TOO hard to get there. Bless all of you for giving Franklin what she needed to carry on. Very exciting!

  16. That is fantastic news!! We are finding the life and times of Franklin fascinating reading – so she takes a bath every night? Where does she sleep?

    • Hi, Wally & Sammy. Before Franklin stopped walking, she lived outside with the chickens. During the day, she free-ranged in the yard where she has access to a kiddie swimming pool. At night, she was locked up because of coyotes and other predators. Currently, she’s sleeping on our back patio. The nightly bath is to allow her to clean herself and work the muscles in her legs and to give her some freedom from gravity (I think that’s what Mom called it). Ducks LOVE water. Weird creatures in my book! *ear licks* Noodle
