I’m still scratching but the scabs and bumps are slowly going away.
Mom now thinks that this is an allergic reaction to the pig’s ear she gave me on Saturday. Remember? The itching started Sunday.
As soon as this clears up, Mom’s going to do a small test the next time she and Dad eat pork. Mom never gives me table scraps but Dad does and she now thinks my sporadic (she taught me that word earlier) itchies are because of bits of pig products (pork chops, bacon, pork tenderloin, ham, etc.).
I’ll be so sad if I can never have a pig’s ear again OR BACON! OMD! That’s an awful thought!
As much as I DON’T want to miss out on all of those things, it would be really nice to not have itches anymore. Let’s keep our paws crossed that Mom’s theory is right, ok?
Happy Saturday, friends!
Where I worked a lot of dogs were allergic to beef and chicken proteins. Some were allergic to pork, oh noodle doodle we hope you feel better soon!

Being without pork is survivable. Your health is more important.

Just a thought but here in the UK there is a tendency for pigs to have been fed penicillin (I’m veggie so just the thought of eating meat makes me shudder!!) so if it’s not pork you are allergic to could it be penicillin ??

Hmmm that’s VERY interesting. Testing that theory would be a bit more difficult.

My dad can’t eat most meat because of what the animal eats, like corn, that he’s allergic to. He says you eat what you eat ate. Gotta think about that one. Maybe you could eat chicken ears or duck ears. ๐

My human family is allergic to pork and fish – it’s an iodine allergy that affects the thyroid gland. The iodine is more concentrated in the skin and the meat close to the bone than anywhere else. They have to check the contents of all their foodstuffies, medication and especially ointments and salves applied directly on the skin. Touch and itch is a slogan in our house. Strange thing is, the itching is always the worst on the top of their heads. Wonder if this can happen to dogs too?

Ruby, I will cry if it’s bacon too! My Mom saw the dried chicken feet but they freaked her out. Plus she doesn’t want me to get a taste for them and then try to rip the feet off of our chickens. *ear licks* Noodle
