You guys did it! You sent enough positive thoughts and wishes for me to get some of my Dad’s birthday cake that it actually happened! Yeah, really….I GOT CAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Dad asked me to say thank you to all of you who took the time to wish him a happy birthday. He read all of your comments and was so happy 🙂
SO, the coolest thing is happening at our house right now. A pair of Carolina Wrens decided to use our back patio to build their nest a couple weeks ago and we now have 5…yes, 5!…baby birds that are growing before our very eyes.
Mama Bird says, “Not so much flash!”
“Feed us! We’re starving!”
You just dropped food in my mouth but I’m starving again! Woe is me…I feel faint!”

Their Mom and Dad work ALL day getting food….literally….it’s all they do! I wanna be a baby bird 🙂
My Mom is already starting to dread the day when they leave. Silly Mom! Hey, I just realized we have no video of them! I’m gonna make Mom do that tomorrow! That ought to make her feel better for when they’re gone.
I’ll try to post a video tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Yipee. you got cake! Those wrens are awesome…cute as can be. I wouldn’t hurt a bird…they’re too fast for me and I will not climb a tree…..it’s in my contract when I adopted mom.

It was so good Shoko! Mom is worried for when they start learning to fly. I am going to try my hardest to be good. I’ve never killer anything but I’ve also never been able to catch anything.

Congrats on getting some cake! And how lucky to have all of those baby wrens on your patio!! We’ve had a few baby House Sparrows, but the wrens just tease us by building dummy nests and having their babies elsewhere.

Mom read that they make 3 nests and pick 1. Two of their choices were on or patio. They are soooo loud!

Those babies are SO cute and their Momma was very smart to find such a nice, safe, dry spot to have her kiddos. Soon they’ll be out on their own…….but maybe she’ll come back NEXT year and have another “crop” of babies!

We have so many nests in the trees. It is fun to watch the construction of the nests. We hope that you enjoyed the cake. Mom is partial to strawberry short cake and we always get some.
