NOODLE THE SCHNOODLE

That is the name Mom and Dad gave me but not before Scruffy (seriously?) and Skeeter (ugh!) were ruled out. Okay, I’ll cut Mom some slack on Scruffy. Immediately upon finding me she took me to Petsmart for a bath and some light grooming and she had to give them a name or they wouldn’t take me. I looked pretty scruffy that day so that’s what the girl and Mom decided on.

After watching me bounce around for a couple days, Mom and Dad realized I was a noodle-head. Silly as can be. My breed, assumed to be Schnauzer/Poodle aka Schnoodle. Put em together and there you have it – Noodle the Schnoodle.

Mom and Dad NEVER call me by my full name, though. Instead, I have to be on guard at all times for one of these gems:

Noodle Doodle

Doodle

Poodle

Noods (I hate when Dad calls me this!)

Noop

Noops

Noopy

Noopy Noo

Noopy Nooperstein (My jewish roots!)

Nooples (gah!)

Doodly

Noodly Doodly

Noopy Poopy (just don’t)

Noodle Kadoodlehopper

Stick Legs

Little Man

Noodle Strudel

and finally….

Noodle Kugel (my Aunt Perry calls me that!)

I’m sure there are more but how many can you expect me to remember off the top of my head?

RARELY, do I ever get called Noodle.

My questions for you: how did you get your name and what nicknames do you have? Don’t be shy!

I was a discarded, lost little stray without a house or a family...until my mom found me. Now, I am the happiest, most loved dog in the whole world!

  1. Wow! You sure have a lot of nicknames, Noodle! So cool!

As you know, I have a kitty named Samantha. I often call her ‘Saman,’ ‘Samanch,’ or ‘Little Lemur.’

On the other hand, my friends call me ‘Puppy’ (duh), or ‘Puppers.’ I admit…not nearly as exciting as yours!

    Cheers! -Puppy and Saman

  4. Well my story isn’t as cute as yours (!) but apparently after my Mom and Dad’s last kitty went to the Bridge, they waited a while to go to the shelter to look for another kitty. Mom told Dad HE could choose a name for whatever kitty they would adopt and he said he liked the name “Sam” or “Sammy”……..Mom said OK and that was that! As for nicknames…..I have a LOT of them……some of them rather embarrassing (you know how humans are)….my favorites are “Squeezy”, “Samster”, and “Doll Baby” (see what I mean about embarrassing???).

    Hugs, Sammy

BOL! This is great! It’s the same phenomenon here! My name was originally “Gunner,” which my forever Mama and Papa were not big on. They were going to call me “Günther” originally to stay close to my previous name, and with a nod to my breed’s German origin, BUT went with Gilligan after seeing it in a list of possible names. That said, Papa has recently made a concerted effort to ACTUALLY call me “Gilligan” here and there, because I’m usually just called “Weens.” We have a whole list of nicknames on a piece of paper on the fridge, and have been gearing up for a post JUST like this one at some point soon. *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com

  7. Genis says:

Well, I started out as Ikey. Quite a decent name I think. Then Mom started calling me Spike because all the hair on my head was sticking up due to a bad fur-do. Then my Bro started calling me Spyker (Afrikaans for Nail) and no, I have no idea what that was about. Dad decided to name me Genis after a character in an Afrikaans soapie who also has bushy eyebrows *wiggle, wiggle*. Nowadays I am officially known as Genis, but in private the whole family calls me Padda (Afrikaans for Toad) – hopefully this name will disappear once I reach my target weight.

  8. When my parents adopted me, my name was Sammie. Considering mom’s name is Samantha, they wanted to change it but couldn’t agree on a different name. After days and weeks went by, they just left it how it is! I’m glad – I was already so used to it.

As far as nicknames are concerned, I don’t have nearly as many as you. Mine are Pretty Girl, Pretty Thing, and Stinky, but I also answer to my sister’s nickname – Froutie (pronounced: fruity) – mostly because I want all the attention!

  11. Hi Noodly Doodly! My “Christened” name is Lexington Barbeque. I was named after a BBQ joint in NC. It was kinda’ scary when I found that out. I worried someone would try to eat me. For safety reasons, I am just called Lexi. Sometimes I am called The Lexmeister, The Lexter, Lexipro (by my friend where my Mom used to work), or, by my Dad, The Little One. Oh, and I don’t dig anymore, but I want to go to China too. Are either of you diggers anywhere near Tennessee?

    • That’s quite a name! I just told someone else about the time mom said she was cooking noodles and I feared for my life. It’s rough having a food-related name! I think we’re a little far from Tennessee – we’re in Florida! I guess we need to work a second tunnel into our route so we can pick you up!

      Liked by 1 person

      • Well, we are in southeast Tennessee, real close to Georgia where I was born. So maybe it isn’t too far. Please keep digging, and I can try to give you exact coordinates into my dog lot when you are ready. maybe I can get my big brother, Riley, a pit/lab mix, to help dig. He has big claws. But he hates to get his feet dirty…

      • Hmph, must be a big dog thing. They have all the muscle and do none of the hard work! My sister is a pit/bull mastiff mix and she would never dig!

  13. Wait! I heard some people eat dogs in other countries. I don’t want to be eaten. See earlier comment. I think I will stay home. You guys have a good time. Happy travels, and stay skinny so no one wants to eat you. (I have plenty of meat on my bones – no, I didn’t say I was fat!)
