Hi, everybody! I hope you enjoyed seeing the pics from my battle this morning as much as I enjoyed being in it (even though I lost). My mom is home from work today so she told me she would help me blog this morning. Time got away from us yesterday.

I’ve been having trouble sleeping the last few nights. My skin is all splotchy and bumpy, and I’m super itchy. I have a VERY severe flea allergy. Although I don’t actually have ANY fleas at all. Mom had allergy testing done 2 years ago and the vet was shocked by how allergic I am. See, a significant allergy shows up with a number around 150 and above. Mine came back at 2,211!!!! If I am even in the same zip code as a flea, I am itchy.

Unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done. Steroid shots have slowly become less and less effective, as has Benedryl and other allergy medicines. That’s why my mom keeps my hair short. The longer my hair is, the itchier I am. It also makes it easier to put cortisone cream on and to bathe me more frequently.

Sometimes I get really crazy and chew myself raw. It makes Mom and Dad very sad because they can’t do anything to stop the itchies. I know they try though. They have spent LOTS of money trying different solutions. If you have ANY suggestions, please comment or email me: Noodle4president@gmail.com.

On another note, I’m getting really excited for Thursday. I hope I get some mashed potatoes. Dad usually makes Khia and me a bowl of our food mixed with mashed potatoes for dinner. He’s the best 🙂

  1. We haven’t done testing because Sammie’s itchies aren’t THAT bad, but we figure it’s a food allergy. The vet said gross ears (which seem to be clear now) and especially itchy paws (still no relief) point to that conclusion, which is why we switched to the salmon-based food. It’s gotten bad again, but we hope it’s just the too-dry weather! 😦

  2. Noodle, this is Lexi’s Mom replying. I hope your allergies are much better, but from recent posts I believe you are still battling the itchies. My first schnauzer had bad food allergies that caused her to practically “eat” herself, like what you were describing, before I got her on the right food. Sometimes the only thing that would help was a very cool bath. It calmed all the itchies. Of course, it was a very short term solution. Unfortunately, the steroid shots caused her to get Cushings disease. Something to boost your immune system might also help…Your mom can read up on that if she thinks it might be a viable thing to try. I sure hope you didn’t get any fleas in Central Park yesterday!

    • Hi, Mrs. Lexi’s Mom!!! With my new, shorter hair it seems to be a bit better. You may have seen recently Mom talking to someone about how she has thought I may have Cushing’s. The test, as you know, is very expensive. So Mom is making one last ditch effort to get me to lose weight and if I don’t, then the test is the next option! I’ll tell Mom to read up on immune system boosters. I don’t think I got any fleas….boy, that would be embarrassing!
